Hannah is a Brit who came to New York to work. She found her dream job in public relations, but had not found true love by her mid-thirties. The daughter of a bitter divorcee, she is determined not to follow in her parents’ footsteps. When she is introduced by friends to Mark Reilly, another British citizen, sparks fly. After a whirlwind romance, they go back to England together and live happily ever after.
Except for the happily part. Hannah can’t find a job, and while she is languishing in her expensive digs, Mark disappears. He is supposed to be in the US on a business trip, but his colleagues think he is in Europe with Hannah. When she digs deeper, Hannah discovers there is no record of him at his hotel, although he has left phone messages for her. In addition, he has cleaned out their bank accounts and the equity in their home.
Whitehouse builds suspense as readers creep to the edge of their seats. I look forward to a good read.
