The subject of today’s post is Six Months of September (2013), the first of a planned series of mysteries featuring reporter Duncan Walsh by indie author Mark Allen. After an altercation with a popular news anchor, Duncan loses his job at Channel 8, and struggles to survive as he contemplates his future. He spends much of his time at the Chicago Museum of Natural History, where he meets tour guide Agnes, a local university student, and pursues her without regard to the fact that she already has a boyfriend.
Agnes is heading to Montana for a paleontology dig, but when she misses her bus and disappears, her story is featured on the local news, and Duncan can’t wait for the police to solve this crime. Together with his best friend and Agnes’ boyfriend James, he launches his own investigation.
Secrets are revealed and clues lead them to the university that Agnes attends, but the closer they get the more Duncan realizes the danger that lies ahead. The main character will appeal to readers, and this novel is filled with humor as well as suspense.
